Ralf Andreas Breth

Ralf Andreas Breth (born September 30, 1954 in Heppenheim ) is a German diplomat .

Life

Ralf Breth studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main. After joining the Foreign Service , he was employed in the Foreign Office (legal department), at the embassies in Mexico and Uganda and on the EU observer mission for Yugoslavia . From 1995 to 1997 he was Consul General in Sibiu , Romania . This was followed by a renewed use in the Foreign Office (economic department) until 2002. During this time he acted in the rank of lecturer in the Legation Council between 1999 and 2002 together with the Legation Councilor First Class Andreas Kindl as the representative of the Foreign Office for the committee to investigate the CDU donation affair .

From 2002 to 2005 he was Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Izmir . In 2005 he succeeded Irene Hinrichsen as ambassador to North Macedonia . He held this post until 2008. In 2011 he took over the chairmanship of the OSCE mission in Skopje . From 2015 to 2016 he was ambassador to Turkmenistan . He has been ambassador to Botswana since 2017 .
