Ralf Bödeker
Ralf Bödeker (born May 12, 1958 ) is a former German soccer player . The all-round player played 32 league games (1 goal) at Borussia Mönchengladbach from 1978 to 1982 in the Bundesliga and played in the two finals against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1979/80 UEFA Cup .
Career
Bödeker, who had played in the youth and amateur team of the “foals”, played for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga from 1978 to 1982. During this time he came to 32 missions and scored one goal. In the last coaching year of Udo Lattek , 1978/79, he made his debut on September 2, 1978 in a 0-0 home draw against FC Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. He was substituted on for Ewald Lienen in the 46th minute . Immediately before the start of the round, on August 5th at the DFB Cup game against Wuppertaler SV, Berti Vogts was seriously injured and was out for months. Since none of the newcomers such as Helmut Dudek , Steen Thychosen , Helmut Lausen and Bödeker could develop into a top performer, the Lattek squad fought massively to stay in the league during the round. The 1.72 m tall Bödeker was substituted in in October 1978 in the two games against Werder Bremen (4-0) and VfL Bochum (0-0) and was otherwise on the bench; also in the DFB Cup and in the UEFA Cup.
When Jupp Heynckes took over the training management at Bökelberg for the 1979/80 season, Bödeker improved to 12 league appearances (1 goal) and was part of the regular staff with seven appearances in the 1979/80 UEFA Cup. He was used in the UEFA Cup both in the semi-finals against VfB Stuttgart (1: 2, 2: 0) and in the two final games against Eintracht Frankfurt in May 1980 (3: 2, 0: 1) and won with Borussia the 7th place in the Bundesliga. The two newcomers Lothar Matthäus and Harald Nickel made a significant contribution to improving the sport . Mönchengladbach was also right when it came to the commitment of Uwe Rahn and the return campaign by Hans-Günter Bruns for the 1980/81 season; Bödeker's personal situation, however, deteriorated. In 1980/81 he had to be content with only six more Bundesliga appearances and Borussia reached 6th place. Before his fourth year in the Bundesliga, in 1981/82, Frank Mill and Kurt Pinkall, two dangerous attackers, joined the Borussia squad and defensive player Uli Borowka made his first steps in the Bundesliga. With his 11th round on April 17, 1982, a 1-0 away win at MSV Duisburg, he ended his Bundesliga career in the right defensive position. In front of goalkeeper Wolfgang Kleff , he had formed the safe defense on the side of Wilfried Hannes , Frank Schäffer and Borowka.
Bödeker is now a football coach at 1. FC Viersen .
