Ralf Briese (* 2. March 1971 in Leer (Ostfriesland) ; † 9. October 2011 in Oldenburg (Oldenburg) ) was a German Greens - politicians . Since 2003 he has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Ralf Briese attended the elementary school and the orientation stage in Jemgum and made in 1991 at Teletta-United-Gymnasium empty the High School . After doing his community service , he worked as a development worker in Bangladesh from 1992 to 1993 . He then studied politics, education, sociology, geography and economics at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg and became a qualified teacher. He interrupted his studies to train as a nurse; in this profession he worked at the Klinikum Oldenburg . From 2001 to 2003 he was an employee of the Green politician and member of the Bundestag Thea Dückert .

Briese suffered from depression . The cause of death is assumed to be a suicide on the weekend between 7 and 9 October 2011.

Political career

Ralf Briese joined the Greens in 1998. In 2003 and 2008 he was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament via the state list. He was the domestic and local political spokesman for the parliamentary group of the Greens. Ralf Briese was a member of the Legal and Constitutional Committee and the Election Review Committee . In addition, Briese was councilor of the city of Oldenburg since 2006.

After Briese's death, Meta Janssen-Kucz succeeded him in the state parliament.
