Ralf Georgi (born December 27, 1967 in Ottweiler ) is a German politician ( Die Linke , previously Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

Life and work

Ralf Georgi began his political engagement with the Greens. He was local chairman in his place of residence Ottweiler and district chairman of the district of Neunkirchen . Both of Georgi's parents were blind. For this reason, too, he was the city of Ottweiler's disability officer for many years. During the time of the red-green federal government under Gerhard Schröder , Georgi was involved in the Greens against the Agenda 2010 initiated by the latter and finally switched to the left, where he is the local association chairman in Ottweiler. He also sits on the city council for the Left. In the state elections in Saarland in 2009 , he took second place in the Neunkirchen constituency list of the Left and was elected as one of 11 left-wing MPs in the state parliament. For his parliamentary group he is the disability and animal welfare policy spokesman.

He is a member of the following committees:

  • Committee on Home Affairs and Sport (Secretary)
  • Environment and Consumer Protection Committee
  • Submissions Committee (Chairman)
  • Interregional Parliamentary Council
  • Mine Safety and Post-Mining Committee (Secretary)

Ralf Georgi is a trained car mechanic and runs practices in Saarbrücken and Homburg in which people who have had their driving license withdrawn are advised and prepared for the medical-psychological examination . Georgi is a member of the ver.di union .

Social functions

  • since 1997 member of the board of the animal welfare association of the city of Ottweiler
  • Ver.di member since 2000
  • since 2010 chairman of the EU Anti-Discrimination Association (since 2007 deputy chairman)
  • since 2009 member of the interregional parliamentary council

Political goals

Quote: “As the disability policy spokesman for our parliamentary group, it is particularly important to me to take care of socially neglected groups in our society. With the introduction of Hartz IV, the red-green federal government under Chancellor Schröder initiated the fall of man through the division of our society. These faults have been cemented since then. In a poor federal state like here in Saarland, the social gap has widened particularly strongly, and there is no end in sight. It is my goal to fight for the fair participation of all people in the country and to ensure that socially disadvantaged groups are not left behind and can also lead a life in dignity and peace. "
