Ralf Peters (* 1960 in Lüneburg ) is a German photographer.

Life

Ralf Peters studied from 1982 to 1983 at the Braunschweig University of Art . In 1984 he studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts / Nîmes / France. From 1985 on he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He completed his studies in 1991.

General information about the work

Ralf Peters began his artistic work with politically oriented paintings. Since 1987 he has been working in the field of situational sculptures, room installations and individual objects. From 1994 the group of works 64 models was created, which brought the artist first attention through exhibitions in the Haus der Kunst in Munich and the Kunsthalle Hamburg . In 1998 Ralf Peters turned to photography. The first conceptual photographic series "Gas Stations" was created, with a conceptual reference to artists such as ed Ruscha and Edward Hopper . Peters does not have a photography-oriented education, but approaches the medium from a conceptual point of view. From the beginning he uses the possibilities of digital image processing and understands the photographic material as the starting material to be processed. The oscillation between manipulated photography and documentary photography becomes characteristic of his work. His documentary works appear to the viewer in front of his own horizon of experience as digitally processed photographs.

Ralf Peters was a member of the German Association of Artists .
