Ramphis is a genus of butterflies from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The head of the butterfly is smoothly scaled. The antennae are three quarters as long as the fore wings. The labial palps are cylindrical and curved over the head. The moths have lanceolate black-brown forewings, which are drawn with a pattern of white costal lines and silvery or pale gold spots. The hind wings are narrow and pointed and more than half as long as the forewings.

In the males, the brachia are symmetrical and about the same length. They are slightly curved and tapered distally . The blades are narrow and elongated. The distal half is sparsely bristled. The right valvella is well developed, while the left is mostly absent. The aedeagus is long and strong. It has a basal bulbous section and a long, tapered distal part.

In the females, the Apophyses posteriores are about one and a half times as long as the Apophyses anteriores. The sterigma with the semicircular ante-vaginal plate lies opposite the sclerotization at the rear end of the 7th sternite . The ductus bursae is narrow, membranous and about as long or shorter than the corpus bursae . The corpus bursae is elongated and has an extension at the rear that ends in the seminal duct. There are two funnel-shaped or cup-shaped signs.

distribution

The genus has a disjoint distribution. The species are native to the Iberian Peninsula and the eastern Mediterranean .

biology
