history

Foundation and advancement

Rani mraz was founded at the beginning of 1978 by Đorđe Balašević and the vocalist Verica Todorović. With the song Moja prva ljubav (German: My first love ) they took part in the Opatija Festival in 1978.

Rani mraz experienced frequent changes in the composition, so that in 1978 Biljana Krstić and Bora Đorđević, former members of the band Suncokret , joined. In the same year, the song Računajte na nas! ( Count on us! ) Published. This developed into the "hymn of a generation".

In 1979 Balašević won the Split Music Festival with his song Panonski mornar ( Pannonian Sailor ). Đorđe Balašević and Biljana Krstić made appearances throughout Yugoslavia. Balašević was also known for giving long monologues on current topics at concerts in addition to playing songs .

Due to differences of opinion, Đorđević left the band after only two months of working together. Shortly before production of the debut album began , Verica Todorović also left the band.

In 1980 Balašević completed his military service with the Yugoslav People's Army in Zagreb . He announced that he wanted to start a solo career after military service. At that time he dedicated a song to the late Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito with the name Tri put sam video Tita (German: Three times I met Tito ). At the end of 1980, Rani mraz's last album was released under the name Odlazi cirkus (German: The circus moves away ).

In 1982, Balašević released his first album Pub (German: Bube ) and began his solo career.
