Jan Raphael Høegh-Krohn (born February 10, 1938 in Ålesund , † January 24, 1988 ) was a Norwegian mathematician .
He received his doctorate in 1966 with Kurt Friedrichs at New York University on the subject of On Partly Gentle Perturbation with Application to Perturbation by Annihilation-Creation Operator . Most recently he was a professor at the University of Oslo .
He is the author of over 150 papers and is known for discovering a fundamental duality in relativistic statistical quantum mechanics by replacing the correlation function with a stochastic process , the Høegh-Krohn process. He wrote several monographs with Sergio Albeverio , who was temporarily in Oslo, among other things on the mathematics of path integrals .
