Raphael "Raf" Ravenscroft (born June 4, 1954 in Stoke-on-Trent , † October 19, 2014 in Exeter ) was a British saxophonist and composer .

Life

Ravenscroft played with Pink Floyd , Marvin Gaye , ABBA , Kim Carnes , Bonnie Tyler , Chris Rea , Robert Plant , America , Mike Oldfield , Julian Lennon , Daft Punk and Duffy , among others . Ravenscroft also played the famous saxophone part at Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty , for which he received a check for £ 27 that was initially unsecured. Rafferty, on the other hand, had collected around £ 80,000 in royalties per year for the song. Raphael Ravenscroft died at the age of 60 on October 19, 2014. As the British Telegraph reported, a heart attack could be to blame for the musician's death.
