Raphael Schmied (born March 15, 1995 ) is a Swiss floorball player on the position of goalkeeper , who at UHC Waldkirch-St. Gallen is under contract.

Career

Schmied started playing floorball at an early age. At the age of ten, the Oberaach native had to choose between floorball and football. Raphael Schmied completed a large part of his junior career in the teams of Barracudas Unihockey from Romashorn.

When he was 14, he trained at Baracudas and at UHC Waldkirch-St. Gallen. A season later, Schmied was in the goal of the U16 juniors. From now on he only plays for the UHC Waldkirch-St. Gallen. He went through the remaining junior teams of the U16, U18 and U21. For the 2016/17 season, Fabian Arvidsson called the U21 goalkeeper Raphael Schmied into the first team's squad. Schmied is number two in the goal of Eastern Switzerland behind Dominic Jud.

After the season, on March 30, 2017, the UHC Waldkirch-St. Gallen announced that Schmied has extended his contract by one year until the end of the 2017/18 season. On January 10, he gave UHC Waldkirch-St. Gallen announced that Schmied has extended his contract to 2020. 

Trivia

Since the beginning of his career in goal, Schmied has been wearing the number 95 based on the year he was born.
