The Rasmussen Peninsula (in Chile Península Riesco , in Argentina Península Mendoza ) is a peninsula up to 1210 m high on the Fallières coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between Mikkelsen Bay and the Wordie Ice Shelf . The Cape Berteaux forms its seaward foothills.
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the peninsula on October 24, 1979 after the Danish Arctic explorer Knud Rasmussen (1879-1933). The Chilean name is named after Germán Riesco Errázuriz (1854–1916), President of Chile from 1901 to 1906. In Argentina, the peninsula is named after the city of Mendoza . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names has not yet recognized any of these names.
