Pappenheim town hall

The town hall of Pappenheim in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen is located on the market square of the town. The building with the address Marktplatz 1 is registered under monument number D-5-77-158-118 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list.

The building was erected from 1594 to 1598 as a chancellery . In 1722 it was redesigned; In 1812 the city bought the building. Initially, groceries were sold on the ground floor. Some horse stables as well as feed and storage rooms, school and council rooms were also in the building. The first business premises of the Sparkasse Pappenheim and the post office were in the building from 1851. At the time, the first floor was a meeting room and a police station with a detention room and a police servant's apartment . On the other hand, there is a school hall for girls on the second floor. There were probably apartments on the third floor. The building was renovated in 1867 and 1982.

The town hall is a three-storey gable - Satteldachbau with wall fountain in the colors red and green, the colors of Pappenheim. The "Haus des Gastes" and the tourist information are located at the rear of the building. A public scale was installed in front of the right staircase .
