Town hall in Balingen

The town hall in Balingen , the district town of the Zollernalb district in Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1811. The town hall at Färberstraße 2 is a protected cultural monument .

Since the old town hall fell victim to the town fire of 1809, today's town hall was built by building inspector Carl Christian Nieffer (1787–1871). At that time it housed the city administration, the Oberamt , the Oberamts prison , the notary's office , a weighing and warehouse, the Fruchtschranne .

The three-storey, plastered building stands on a high base. A two-flight flight of stairs on the north facade leads to the main entrance. On the hipped roof with a northern triangular gable and roof turret there is a carillon with a Westminster chime .

The building was extensively renovated from 2000 to 2003.
