The Raven River is an approximately 85 km long left tributary of the Red Deer River in the west of the Canadian province of Alberta .

River course

The Raven River rises in the eastern foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains . Further north is the Clearwater River , a tributary of the North Saskatchewan River . The Raven River flows for the first 70 km in a predominantly east-northeast direction through the foreland of the mountains. North of the river is the Caroline settlement . The Alberta Highway 54 closely follows the settlement Raven a short distance to the river, 2 km above the settlement of Raven , the North Raven River meets the river when coming from the north. This flows another 17 km in a predominantly south-easterly direction before it flows into the Red Deer River above Gleniffer Lake . The Raven River shows a strongly meandering behavior along its entire course .

Hydrology
