Ray LaMontagne
Raymond Charles "Ray" LaMontagne (born June 18, 1973 in Nashua , New Hampshire ) is an American singer-songwriter of folk rock .
Life
Ray Lamontagne began his music career after the 1991 song Treetop Flyer from the album stills alone by Stephen Stills had heard. He quit the shoe factory in which he had worked until then. He organized his own gigs in small bars, played in the opening act for local folk bands and promoted his demo tape, recorded in the summer of 1999 .
In 2004 Chrysalis Publishing became aware of him and offered him a record deal. LaMontagne recorded his debut album Trouble in just two weeks , which was released by the major label RCA and, according to its homepage, has sold over 250,000 copies to date. The album was produced in Los Angeles by Ethan Johns .
On August 29, 2006 LaMontagne's second album Till the Sun Turns Black was released in the USA. Again, Ethan Johns acted as producer, as well as the third album Gossip In The Grain , which was released on October 14, 2008 on RCA Records. The fourth album God Willin & the Creek Don't Rise in August 2010 was produced by LaMontagne himself. He also worked with accompanying musicians, "The Pariah Dogs".
