Raymond Sock

Raymond C. Sock (born June 5, 1946 in British Gambia ) is a Gambian lawyer and politician.

Life

Sock went to Lewis and Clark College in Portland , United States , from 1965 to 1968, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. He obtained his “Certificate in Communication” from Fordham University in 1966 and from 1968 to 1970 a Master of Arts in English literature from Pennsylvania State University , and the Barrister at Law from the Inns of Court School of Law in London from 1975 to 1978 He obtained the “Certificate in Legislative Drafting” in 1980 at the “Australian Legislative Drafting Institute”.

After various positions, Sock was the first director of the African Center for Democracy and Human Rights Studies from 1990 to 1995, and was succeeded by Zoe Mumbi Tembo in 1994 .

In March 2005, he was President Yahya Jammeh (as Minister of Justice and Attorney General english Attorney General and Secretary of State for Justice ) of the Republic of The Gambia to the Cabinet appointed and laid on March 31, the oath of office. Sock was only in office for a few months and was replaced by Sheikh Tijan Hydara .

In 2009 he played a key role in the Gambia Law Revision Commission, which was supposed to revise the Gambian laws.

In August 2011 he was appointed General Director of the Gambia Law School.

Private

Sock is married and has three children.
