Raymund Tschudi

Raymund Tschudi OSB (born July 7, 1914 in Basel ; † June 21, 2011 ) was abbot of Einsiedeln Abbey and participant in all session periods of the Second Vatican Council .

Life

Born as Franz Julius Tschudi, he entered the Benedictine Abbey of Maria Einsiedeln , where he took the religious name Raymund.

Tschudi made his profession in 1936 and was ordained a priest on May 18, 1940 . He was elected Abbot of Einsiedeln on October 29, 1959 , on November 14 of the same year this election was confirmed and he was ordained abbot by the Nuncio Gustavo Testa and introduced to the office.

He resigned from his office on September 5, 1969 and left the monastery community.
