Razamanaz is the third studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth .

album

The album was recorded in 1973 at The Gangshut Studio in Scotland and produced by Roger Glover , bassist for Deep Purple . It was first released on the B&C Mooncrest label in 1973. It is the band's third LP. The artwork is by Dave Field .

Emergence

When Nazareth played in the opening act for Deep Purple in 1972, Roger Glover was impressed by the performance of the backing band. The compositions of the song material go back to the end of 1972, when the title song "Razamanaz" was played for the first time at some of the band's concerts. Nazareth themselves were optimistic about the new songs, but their management was skeptical. The two LPs had been too unconvincing before, and it took the band a lot of persuasion to get the necessary budget for the recording work. With a demo recording of the song "Broken down Angel", however, this succeeded, and the donors gave the green light. It was a 50:50 decision because one of the two managers, Derek Nicol, still had doubts about the usability of the material. The other, however, Bill Frehilly, invested the necessary money in the band. “Razamanaz” was born and after its release it reached number 11 in the UK charts.

Singles

"Broken down Angel" was released, played frequently on the BBC and came to number 7 in England. The band started their tour in Lancaster , and in the first week of the tour they appeared on the famous show Top of the Pops . After that, the number of ticket sales increased rapidly.

"Razamanaz" itself was planned as a single release, but never appeared. Instead, the choice fell on the "Bad, bad Boy" presented with a distinctive slide guitar. This single also contained the two previously unreleased tracks "Hard living" and "Spinning Top" and reached number 10 in the UK charts.
