Razvan Stoica

Razvan Stoica (also Răzvan Friedman Stoica; born June 8, 1986 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian violinist .

life and career

Razvan Stoica comes from a family of musicians and received his first violin lessons from his father at the age of four. At the age of six he attended the Lyceum George Enescu in Bucharest with a focus on music. After only three years and as the youngest student of his time, he was accepted into the class of Modest Iftinchi at the George Enescu Conservatory (today's George Enescu University of the Arts ) and later also taught by Ștefan Gheorghiu . In 2004 he moved to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as a student of Ilja Grubert , a year later he went to the Swiss École Supérieure de Musique , where he learned from Shlomo Mintz . As a guest soloist and as part of the Duo Stoica , which he founded in 1996 together with his sister, the pianist Andreea Stoica , he has performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Teatro San Barnaba in Brescia, in Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and at the Palacio de Festivales in Santander. In 2010 Stoica founded the Kamerata Stradivarius Orkest , of which he is the artistic director. Stoica lives in the Netherlands .

Awards

Razvan Stoica has won over 24 prizes in renowned national and international competitions, including the Perosi Competition in Tortona, the Olympic Violin Competition in Romania and the Bolzano Duo Competition in Italy. As the winner of the Strad Prize in Salzburg in 2009, he was loaned a Stradivari violin from 1729 as a loan from an anonymous donor from Salzburg . In October 2013, Stoica won the EURORADIO New Talent competition of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Slovakia .

Strad Style (2017), director: Stefan Avalos ; Documentation about the autodidactic violin maker Danny Houck in Laurelville , Ohio , who made a masterful copy of Guarneri's violin " Il Cannone " for Stoica . The film was shown at the 2017 Slamdance Festival in Park City , Utah .
