Växjö IBK
Växjö IBK is a Swedish floorball club from Växjö . The men play in the Svenska Superligan , Sweden's top division, while the women play in the third division.

history
founding
Växjö IBK was founded on May 22, 1988 as Växjö Östra IK (VöIK). The women qualified for the first time in 1996 for the final of the highest league.
In the Växjö region there was also another floorball club, Hovshaga AIF, in addition to the VöIK. The two clubs considered joining forces in order to play floorball at a high level over the long term. On June 1, 1996, the two clubs merged to form today's Växjö Innebandyklubb. The goal in 1996 was to have a team in the highest Swedish league by 2000 at the latest.
Success and failure
In the spring of 2000 Växjö IBK was promoted to the top division. At the same time the club gave itself the nickname Växjö Vipers to increase the recognition value of the club. After only one season, the club from southern Sweden rose as the penultimate in the regular season.

After relegation, the club reorganized and rose again to the Svenska Superligan after the 2012/13 season. Växjö was able to qualify for the playoffs in the first season, but failed in the quarter-finals against the qualifying winners from Falun .
In the second season after returning to the SSL, Växjö was able to improve and was at the end of the regular season in fifth place, which entitled to playoff participation. In the playoffs they were able to fight Müllsjö into the last game in the first round , but were clearly defeated in the last game.
In 2015/16 the team in the traditional dark blue jerseys again qualified for the playoffs with fourth place in the regular season. Christian Hjort's team also failed in the third attempt to win the quarter-finals of the playoffs. IBK Dalen gave Växjö no chance and qualified for the next round with four wins. Three of the four games were decided either in overtime or in a penalty shootout.
In 2016/17, Niklas Nordén's team and his assistant Stefan Nylader qualified for the playoffs for the fourth time in a row. Växjö reached the best table placement since promotion to the Svenska Superligan. In the quarter-final series against Pixbo Wallenstam IBK , Växjö was the first semi-finalist with four wins. In the semifinals, the team meets Mullsjö AIS .

The club plays its home games in the Fortnox Arena in Växjö .
