The Reakktor Media was in Hannover -based development company for computer games . The company, founded in 1991, was best known for its online games Neocron and its successor in the early 2000s. After Reakktor Media went bankrupt in 2012, Reakktor Studios was re-established in 2014 under the original company founder Martin Schwiezer .

history

Reakktor Media GmbH was founded in 1991 as Century Interactive by Martin Schwiezer as a sole proprietorship in Hanover . The company's focus from the start has been the development of computer and video games. In 1999 the name was changed to Reakktor Media GmbH. Since 1999 the focus has been on online multiplayer games. The studio belonged temporarily to mb Software AG, which Reakktor sold to Schweizer System GmbH in 2001 after the collapse of the Neuer Markt and the publishing rights for Neocron to cdv Software Entertainment . Originally planned for a launch date in the 4th quarter of 2001, Neocron was released in late 2002 as a cyberpunk -MMORPG with elements from first-person shooters .

In 2003, Reakktor and eight other development studios founded the Northstar Developers interest group. In February 2004 it was taken over by 10tacle Studios AG. In the same year, Martin Schwiezer left Reakktor Media as managing director. His successor was Holger Nathrath. In 2004 Neocron 2 appeared and in the course of the publication the servers of Neocron were switched off. Neocron 2 was originally announced as an extension for Neocron , but was then released as a stand-alone product for marketing reasons and because of the greatly increased scope. The last patch so far appeared in 2007 under the name Neocron Evolution 2.2 . Neocron Arcade - The NME Project was launched free of charge in 2006 as an arcade shooter and parody of the increasing number of fantasy games. In 2007 Holger Nathrath left the company, and Kirk Lenke became his successor as managing director. In 2008 10tacle Studios AG went bankrupt, as a result of which also Reakktor Media. Unlike the parent company, however, the developer company was able to break free from bankruptcy with the support of new investors and develop Black Prophecy to the end.

In January 2011, Gamigo briefly took a 19.9% stake in Reakktor Media and took over all trademarks and copyrights to Black Prophecy . The game was released in March 2011. It was based on an extensive background story by Michael Marrakech and, as a “space-action MMO”, did not compete against the more tactically oriented EVE Online . In December 2011, Managing Director Kirk Lenke bought them back and thus held 100% of the shares in Reakktor. On February 15, 2012, Reakktor Media had to file for bankruptcy again (AG Hannover, Ref .: 909 IN 152/12 - 0), on September 26, 2012 Black Prophecy ceased operations. In an announcement by the Hanover District Court on October 8, 2012, it was determined that Reakktor Media's insolvency estate was insufficient to cover its liabilities.

Reakktor media holding GmbH (Hanover District Court HRB 206552), which originally held the stakes in the insolvent reakktor media company for the development of multimedia applications (Hanover District Court HRB 57977), has been trading as Nukkdogg GmbH since May 2014. In August 2014, Reaktor Studios GmbH reported a new start under the long-standing corporate domain reakktor.com, according to the legal notice under the management of Martin Schwiezer. The arena shooter Toxikk was released in 2016 as the first game of the newly founded studio .
