Rebel and a Basketcase is an American electro pop band. The band was formed in 2016 by Evan Rachel Wood and multi-instrumentalist Zach Villa .

history

Actors, singers and songwriters Zach Villa and Evan Rachel Wood began working together after appearing together on a John Hughes themed play. Both share a penchant for rock and pop from the eighties, mixed with modern alternative elements. The band was musically influenced by David Bowie , Eurythmics , Alanis Morissette , The Cure , Garbage , Radiohead , Shirley Manson , M83 and The XX . At first, the couple, who appear in glam and gray looks, only got together for one song Oh Yeah . More songs followed under the label "Speaker Cat Records". On 13 March 2017 the band had with the song Today premiere of NBC - late-night talk show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon .
