Red Bull Flugtag

The Red Bull Flugtag is a promotional event for the Red Bull beverage brand . The participants plunge into self-made “flying machines” from a ramp into the water below. In addition to the distance achieved, the originality of the device and the performance are also assessed.

A total of 69 flight days have been organized in 52 cities in Europe, North and South America, Asia and New Zealand (including Barcelona , Prague , Moscow , London , Chicago , New York , İstanbul , São Paulo , Tel Aviv and Wellington ) . September 2007 ). The event also bears the name Red Bull Flugtag outside of the German-speaking countries .

The first Red Bull Flugtag took place in Vienna in 1992 and was held there a total of eight times.

In Germany, the Flugtag has taken place four times in Berlin (1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003), and once each in Hamburg (2004), Cologne (2006) and Mainz (2012). The eighth flight day in Germany took place on July 1, 2018 in the European port of Bremen. The flight day at Hamburg's Grasbrookhafen in August 2004 drew 250,000 spectators and, together with the first visit of the Queen Mary 2 shortly before, made a significant contribution to bringing the still young HafenCity to the attention of Hamburg residents. The first Cologne flight day on September 10, 2006 took place on the Fühlinger See and was followed by around 135,000 spectators. In Bremen the spectacle was followed by around 50,000 visitors.

In Switzerland, the previous venues were Zurich (1997 and 2016), Lucerne (1999 and 2011), Lausanne (2001), Basel (2004) and Locarno (2006).

The world record is currently 78.64 meters and was set by a team from California in 2013 in Long Beach.
