Red Eleven is a Finnish alternative rock and metal band from Jyväskylä , which was founded in 2009 under the name Project Red Eleven .

history

The band was founded in 2009 under the name Project Red Eleven by guitarist Teemu Liekkala and singer Tony Kaikkonen, who initially rehearsed a few songs together. In the summer of 2011 Kaikkonen played these songs to his friends Pasi Pasanen (drums) and Petteri Vaalimaa (electric bass). Convinced by this, they joined the band, whereupon the group was renamed Red Eleven in January 2012, before further rehearsals followed. JV Hintikka joined in as the second guitarist before rehearsing for another two months. The debut album Idiot Factory was then recorded. In 2012 and 2013 performances were held in clubs across Finland. The album was released in April 2013. In the summer of that year work began on the second album, the twelve songs of which were recorded in November at SN-Audio Productions with Sami Niittykoski . In March 2014 the band signed a record deal with the German label Lifeforce Records . The album was released in the same year under the name Round II . On the same label, the third album called Collect Your Scars followed in 2016 .

style

Ingo from Metal.de wrote in his review of Idiot Factory that the group oscillates between alternative rock and metal. It sounds like a mixture of Pantera and Faith No More on the one hand, and Alter Bridge on the other . Only the groove and the keyboard passages would sound independent. The band is varied and talented, but you don't quite know where you are going. The singing consists of both clear singing and growling . Frank “Fränky” Wilkens from metalnews.de reviewed Round II and noted that alternative rock with a strong influence from progressive rock can be heard. The keyboard would be more in the foreground than the electric guitars. The group doesn't sound very catchy and sounds a bit indecisive, but they try to be versatile. The singing is distinctive and resembles that of Mike Patton . There are similarities to Faith No More in other areas as well, but the class of this band cannot be reached. Dave “That Metal Guy” Campbell from metal-temple.com also assigned the group to alternative rock and metal in his review of Collect Your Scars . The songs are shaped by the guitars and the vocals. Occasionally, the group also process influences from progressive rock and electronica .
