The Red Mountain Pass is a mountain pass in the southwestern part of the US state Colorado with a pass height of 3358 meters. The pass lies on the border of Ouray Counties and San Juan Counties and runs between Ouray and Silverton. It was named after the Red Mountains that are near the pass. The pass forms the watershed between the Uncompahgre River and the Animas River . The Red Mountain Pass is also the boundary between the Uncompahgre National Forest and the San Juan National Forest . The Million Dollar Highway , part of US Highway 550 , runs over the pass .
