The Redknife River is a left tributary of the Mackenzie River in the Northwest Territories of Canada .

The Redknife River rises 37 miles east of Trout Lake in the Redknife Hills . It flows in a predominantly northerly direction to the Mackenzie River, in which it flows 75 km southeast of Jean Marie River . The Mackenzie Highway (Highway 1) crosses the river 10 km from the mouth. The catchment area of the Redknife River borders on that of the Kakisa River to the south and that of the Trout River to the west . The Redknife River has a length of about 120 km. He is the namesake of the Redknife Formation , a stratigraphic unit of the western Canadian sedimentary basin .
