Redmond is a place in the Australian state of Western Australia . It is located about 17 kilometers northwest of Albany .
geography
Marbelup , Torbay and Drome lie south of the village , Redmond West to the west , Narrikup to the north and Green Valley to the east .
It is over twelve kilometers as the crow flies to the sea in the south. Redmond is also home to the Phillips Brook Nature Reserve and Sleeman Creek Nature Reserve , Quandenup Lagoon, and Sleemans Creek .
Redmond can be reached from the Albany Highway by the Redmond-Hay River Road .
History and etymology
The place is located in the traditional settlement area of the Aboriginal tribe of the Mineng .
In 1912 a siding was laid in the area . The region was originally called Mulikupp , but was later renamed Redmond . In 1913 parcels were eliminated. In 1916 a school was built and Redmond was added to the register of places.
The origin of the name Redmond is unproven, but should be a tribute to the Irish politician John Redmond .

The town of Redmond had a population of 205 people in 2016, of which 54.2% male and 45.8% female. 3.5% (seven people) of these are Aborigines or Torres Strait Islanders .
The average age in Redmond is 46 years, eight years above the Australian average of 38 years.
