Reed Van Dyk

Reed Van Dyk (* 20th century ) is an American film producer , director and screenwriter in the field of short films .

Career

Reed Van Dyk received his BA from Cornell University and his Masters from UCLA . As a child actor, he played on Broadway and Off-Broadway , but gave up acting after high school. In the film business, he first appeared in front of the camera in the short film Highway 403, Mile 39 from 2004, before making his directorial debut with his short film The Conservatory in 2008 , where he also worked as a screenwriter, producer and actor. For this film he received a Student Emmy Award. His second short film, Hung Up, followed in 2013, followed by Amateur Couple the following year , which had its world premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival.

For his short film DeKalb Elementary from 2017 he received numerous awards at film festivals and was nominated in the category “ Best Short Film ” at the 2018 Academy Awards. The award went to Chris Overton and Rachel Shenton for their contribution to The Silent Child .

Van Dyk lives in Los Angeles .
