reelport or reelport.com is in Cologne -based B2B - platform , ensuring a fully digital submission process for filmmakers and producers , festivals and buyers possible. history
Tilman Scheel founded reelport GmbH in 2004 and has been the managing director since then. reelport was originally a project for the Oberhausen Short Film Festival , which, together with the AG Kurzfilm, offered a portal for digital festival submissions.
Website
The reelport website is available in both German and English. The graphical structure of the page first presents the visitor with four films, called catalog features , to choose from, which are generated at random and, when selected, link to the respective film information. The two main services of the page - film submissions and digital film distribution - are presented below the film presentation, in a fairly central position . To the left of this, the site user is initially offered a login function. In the right frame of the page there is an automatically updated list with the current calls for festival submissions.

The films uploaded by the rights holders are stored on a server and then fed into an online film catalog on reelport.com . Uploading the first short film is free of charge. Each additional upload of a short film is chargeable. This is 3 reels . Uploading a DVD requires 5 reels . For film festivals, curators and broadcasters
Film festivals can manage their respective registrations and calls: They open a call for submissions at their festival on reelport.com and can then view, select, invite and curate the respective films online . Curators and broadcasters can search for uploaded films that have received catalog approval from the respective filmmaker, rights holder, and request them directly via the platform or the contact information (if these have also been approved) for their program.
Users of the premium service from reelport.com such as film festivals, curators , broadcasters or even individuals who are willing to pay 250 euros a year have the opportunity to view the films available and approved in the catalog as well as the respective press materials ( film stills and text files ) to download . As a user of reelport you also have the possibility to find the listed films using a search system. There are also various film channels, which are divided into genres and topics.
Cooperation with film festivals
reelport works with several film festivals. The partners include such well-known European short film festivals as the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival , the Finnish Tampere International Short Film Festival or the Portuguese Vila do Conde Short Film Festival . But also non-European festivals are among the partners of reelport . For example the Karachi International Film Festival in Pakistan or the Indian Mumbai International Film Festival , which is one of the largest film festivals on the Indian subcontinent .
