The Reformed Church Heiden is a church building in the municipality of Heiden AR , Switzerland .

history

A Reformed Church has existed in Heiden since 1612. The current church was built by Felix Wilhelm Kubly from 1837 to 1839 in the classical style. Like the Reformed Church in Wattwil , which was built five years later, the building is designed as a transverse church . After a fire in 1936, the church received a new, flat hipped roof . In addition, the interior of the building was redesigned into a longitudinal church.

The facade of the nave is divided into two storeys by an entablature . The main facade has a four-column portico , which is flanked by six arched windows. A two-column portico is in front of each of the side entrances on the narrow sides. The upper floor is characterized on all sides by generous semicircular windows, which have a typical classicist lattice structure.

The 40 meter high tower has a bell cage and a clockwork. The intermediate floor of leads you to a wraparound balcony which of volute consoles is worn. A flat tent roof forms the end . The tower can be visited in the summer months.

The interior is strongly characterized by the lively organ front from 1936 and the colored glass window above . The pulpit is attached laterally to the organ prospectus. There is a gallery on the tower side .
