Reformed Church Passugg-Araschgen
The reformed church in Passugg - Araschgen is an evangelical - reformed church under the protection of monuments of the canton of Graubünden . The church on the slope above the road is located in Kronenhofweg in the district of Vorderaraschgen in the municipality of Chur .
History and equipment
The church, the financing of which could only be secured through a donation from a person who remained anonymous, was built in 1964–72 according to plans by Andreas Liesch as a modern sacred building made of concrete. The building, designed under the leadership of the Reformed, is used as a simultaneous church by both denominations. The ownership structure provides for a 2/3 share for the Reformed and a 1/3 share for the Catholics. From the beginning, this required a number of compromises: the hosts are housed in a very simple, inconspicuous wooden tabernacle ; on the Reformed side, a wooden cross was accepted on the wall, which is also placed next to a stylized cross inserted into the wall by the architect. A wooden communion table is located in the center of the square choir .
Church organization
The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden runs Passugg-Araschgen, which forms a common parish in Steinbach with Tschiertschen and Praden and is also part of a pastoral community with Maladers on the other side of the Schanfigg valley , within the Colloquium VI Schanfigg-Churwalden .
The cemetery in front of the church belongs to the city of Chur.
