Reformed Church Pazen-Farden
The Reformed Church in Pazen-Farden (formerly Patzen-Fardün) on Schamserberg in Shams is an Evangelical - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons . The enclosed church lies on a grassy ledge in the middle of the mountain and is also known as the heart of the Schamserberg .
History and equipment
The inhabitants of Patzen were church members of St. Martin in Zillis in the Middle Ages . In 1407 the church was donated and consecrated under the patronage of St. Nicholas . A local priest, approved by the Diocese of Chur, worked at the church . Patzen accepted the Reformation before 1538 . During the Graubünden turmoil , Zillis broke away in 1627, and Donat, Casti and Clugin merged to form their own ecclesiastical community.
The tower is built onto the nave on the valley side , houses a one-story bell chamber with double openings in each direction and has a tent roof .
The church interior is covered with a flat wooden strip ceiling. The choir is covered with a star-shaped rib vault. In the middle there is a baptismal font , which also serves as a communion table. The pulpit without a sound cover is placed in front of the choir on the left. Remnants of wall paintings by an unknown painter have been preserved. Five saints are depicted on the south side: unknown, Florinus of Remüs , Lucius of Chur , Emerita and Barbara of Nicomedia ; on the north side of St. Michael. The paintings are believed to date from the 15th century and are attributed to a South German master.
Church organization
