Reformed Church Visp
The Reformed Church Visp is an Evangelical - Reformed church in Visp in the Upper Valais .
location
The sacred building is located on Terbinerstrasse above the center.
history
The development of the parish and the construction of the building are closely linked to the history of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Valais . At the end of the 19th century, reformed newcomers came to Upper Valais, especially from the canton of Bern , who worked as technicians and engineers at Lonza , the SBB and BLS railway companies and in tunnel construction on the Simplon and the Lötschberg mountain route .
In 1929, 60 Reformed members founded their own parish in Visp, after Visp had previously been looked after by the parish in Brig for about three decades . The church building was built in 1951. Ten years later an organ was installed in the gallery . In 1968 the first election of his own pastor took place. For decades, the building immediately adjacent to the church housed the Visp Evangelical School and the Sigrist's apartment . Today the location is used for the secretariat and as a meeting room.
Furnishing
The church is characterized by three colored glass windows in the choir , which thematize the Trinity of God in creation, redemption and sanctification. The flat pulpit with a wood-carved front with a motif of the blessing Jesus delimits the choir on the right, the baptismal font on the left.
