The Refuge de Pombie is a refuge of the Pau section of the Club Alpin Français . It is located near the Col du Pourtalet in the commune of Laruns in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in France .

history

  • 1920: Construction of a brick shelter, but it quickly becomes too small.
  • 1967: Construction project in the immediate vicinity of an existing shelter. It was inaugurated on October 8, 1967.
  • 1987 to 1989: important work to improve comfort and wastewater treatment.
  • 1999: last major measures to comply with the guidelines.

Features and information

The refuge is manned from the beginning of June to the beginning of October and on weekends from April to mid-November. The refuge is looked after by the Pau section of the Club Alpin Français.

Access

From the Vallée d'Ossau near the Col du Pourtalet, at the Cabane de l'Araille, follow the direction of the Cabane de Dénescau at an altitude of 1,812 m , continue through the Col de Soum de Pombie at an altitude of 2,129 m and continue to the hut.

  • Access is from Col de Peyreget in 1 hour or from Caillou de Socques in 1.5 hours.
  • Access from Bious-Artigues Lake is over 2.5 hours.
  • The Refuge d'Arrémoulit can be reached in 3 to 4 hours.
