Regalianus
Publius Cassius Regalianus was a senator , under Emperor Valerian he is said to have been dux of Illyria , governor of the Roman province of Pannonia superior or inferior or Moesia superior or inferior and usurper against Emperor Gallienus .
According to the Historia Augusta , which was highly unreliable at the time, Regalianus allegedly descended directly from the Dacian king Decebalus , but this is to be regarded as fiction. After the capture of Valerian by the Sassanids in 260 (according to other research, perhaps as early as 259), Regalianus proclaimed himself Roman emperor , but was defeated by Gallienus after a victory over the Sarmatians and killed by his soldiers. There is evidence that he was also involved in the revolt of Ingenuus ; but he probably acted independently.
Regalianus had coins struck with his name and that of his wife Sulpicia Dryantilla .

Remarks
- ↑ The designation dux Illyrici ( Thirty Tyrants 10.1.9) was transferred here from the ordinance of offices at a later time and should therefore be regarded as fictitious.
