Administrative district of Berlin
The administrative district of Berlin was an administrative district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg from 1816 to 1821 . In 1816 it had 196,429 inhabitants on an area of 76 km². The area of the former government district is now completely in the German state of Berlin .
history
On March 25, 1816, the three administrative districts of Berlin, Potsdam and Frankfurt were established in the Brandenburg province of the Kingdom of Prussia . The administrative district of Berlin included
- the actual city of Berlin , at that time still delimited by its tariff wall
- Moabit
- Wedding
- Gesundbrunnen , then still called Luisenbrunnen
- Boxhagen
- Rummelsburg
- Stralau
- the Hasenheide
- the area of the later Tempelhofer Vorstadt
- the area of the later Schöneberger Vorstadt and
- the great zoo .
For cost reasons, the Berlin administrative district was dissolved again on January 1, 1822 and incorporated into the Potsdam administrative district of the Brandenburg province. The city of Berlin formed an urban district from then on , the suburbs north of the Spree remained in the Niederbarnim district and the suburbs south of the Spree in the Teltow-Storkow district .
