Regina Freitas (born May 15, 1960 in Osso Huna , Baucau , Portuguese Timor ) is a politician from East Timor . She is a member of the Partidu Libertasaun Popular (PLP).

Career

Freitas graduated from fourth grade in 1974. From 1975 to 1978 she was an active member of FRETILIN and its women's and youth organizations OPMT and OPJT. From 1979 to 1992 she participated in the network of resistance against the Indonesian occupation as a member of logistics. In 1993 she became deputy logistics coordinator for resistance region III. At the Conselho Nacional de Resistência Timorense (CNRT) she finally became head of logistics in 1998. The Indonesians left the country in 1999.

In 2003, Freitas founded the Heróis da Pátria school and in 2006 the Aldeia Lacoto preschool in Balibar . From 2003 to 2005 she was head of the presidential residence under President Xanana Gusmão . In 2007 she was a member of the Commission for the Dissemination of Information on AIDS in East Timor. In 2008, Freitas founded Dolaide Unipessoal Lda. From 2009 to 2012 she supported the “Fretilin Reisitência” Taur Matan Ruak , which she founded, as Finance Director in his candidacy for president . In 2015, Freitas and Fretilin Reisitência collected support signatures across East Timor for the establishment of the PLP. In 2016 she became the representative of the women of the Dili municipality in the PLP and director of the social welfare and health department of the Câmera de Comércio e Indústria de Timor-Leste (CCI-TL).

In the 2017 parliamentary elections , Freitas was still in 54th place on the PLP's list without a chance. In the early elections in 2018 , however, she was in 30th place in the Aliança para Mudança e Progresso (AMP), to which the PLP also belongs, so that she made it into parliament . On June 14, Freitas was elected as the second deputy secretary to the Parliament's Bureau. She is also a member of the Commission for Economy and Development (Commission D).
