The East Timorese Presidential Palace is the official residence of the country's President . The building is officially called Palácio Presidente Nicolau Lobato after Nicolau dos Reis Lobato , the country's first Prime Minister and later President. Originally the building should be called "Palace of Hope" ( Portuguese Palácio de esperança ).

The palace is located on Avenida Nicolau Lobato in Suco Bairro Pite in the state capital Dili , west of the city center. Previously, this was a helipad of the International Stabilization Forces and at the end of the Portuguese colonial era, Dilis Airport. The central area of the palace with the E- shaped floor plan has a steeply rising slope that is based on the Timorese style. The initially blue roof has been dark brown since 2015 at the latest. A park surrounds the palace and there is a small helipad to the southeast. The building has the first elevator in the country.

In the entrance hall of the palace there is a dinosaur exhibition with the skeleton of a Tarbosaurus bataar , a relative of the Tyrannosaurus . The skeleton was excavated in Mongolia and is on loan from Monash University as an object for school children to see. It was originally part of a Monash University dinosaur exhibition in the old Dilis market building, which now serves as an exhibition center. The skeleton was then taken to the Presidential Palace at the suggestion of President José Ramos-Horta , where it is to remain until the National Museum of East Timor is completed. Often guests and new ambassadors are greeted in front of the dinosaur skeleton.
