The regional museum in Alsfeld , a town in the Vogelsbergkreis in Central Hesse , has been located in the Minnigerode House and in the Neurath House in Rittergasse 3–5, a side street of the market square , since 1976 .

history

The museum was founded in 1897 by citizens of Alsfeld interested in local history and was housed in the municipal wine house until 1913 and then in the wedding house until 1975 . As part of the renovation of the old town, the city of Alsfeld carried out the conversion of the listed buildings Minnigerode-Haus and Neurath-Haus with the associated barn and inner courtyards in 1975 and the museum was set up. The museum is supported by the Alsfeld History and Museum Association .

The museum is closed until further notice due to extensive renovation work. The reopening should take place at the latest in 2022 Template: future / in 2 yearsfor the 800th anniversary of the city of Alsfeld.

exhibition

In the city history collection, prehistoric and early historical finds such as hand axes and Celtic neck rings are exhibited. There are also regional costumes and a craftsman's hall with furniture.

Special exhibits include the Torah shrine and other items from local Jewish history that were saved from the synagogue that burned down in 1938 .
