The regional transport Allgäu GmbH is a bus company based in Oberstdorf . It is a 70 percent subsidiary of Regionalverkehr Oberbayern GmbH . The remaining 30 percent has been held by Raiffeisen Kleinwalsertal Beteiligungs GmbH in Mittelberg since February 10, 1998 . Before that, Regionalverkehr Oberbayern GmbH was the sole owner.

history

On February 27, 1985, Regionalverkehr Oberbayern GmbH founded its subsidiary Regionalverkehr Allgäu GmbH so that it could improve regular services in Swabia and the Allgäu. On June 1, 1985, Regionalverkehr Allgäu GmbH took over the remaining buses of the postal service in Upper and Eastern Allgäu . With this takeover, the operation of the postal service in Germany ended after all other routes across the country had been transferred to the DB .

structure

Germany's first electric bus route in Oberstdorf local traffic

In 1992, the first permanently operated battery bus line in Germany went into operation as part of the "Car-Free Oberstdorf " project . For five years, as part of a research project, Metroliner buses in carbon design (MIC) from the Neoplan company were used between the reception parking lots and the town center. Nickel-cadmium batteries were used in the vehicles. After the test phase was completed in 1997, the battery buses were exchanged for hybrid buses .
