Reichenbach is a district with around 700 inhabitants in the town of Bad Schussenried in the Biberach district in Upper Swabia .

The village is about one and a half kilometers northwest of Bad Schussenried.

history

Reichenbach is known for the finds in the Steinhausener Ried from the pile dwelling period.

The place was first mentioned in 838 as "Rinchinbah". From 1258 to 1389 the noble lords of Reichenbach are mentioned here. The sovereignty was probably held by the Winterstetten-Schmalegg taverns . Schenk Ulrich in Otterswang sold the place to the Schussenried monastery in 1339 . As a result of the secularization of the monastery in 1803, Reichenbach came to the Counts of Sternberg-Manderscheid and, due to the mediatization , was under the rule of Württemberg from 1806 . The Württemberg state acquired the rights of the Sternberg in 1835. The municipality of Reichenbach belonged to the Saulgau Oberamt and from 1938 to the Saulgau district .

In the course of the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg , the municipality of Reichenbach with Atzenberg, Burg, Fünfhäuser, Hopferbach, Laimbach and the Schwaigfurt homestead was incorporated into the city of Bad Schussenried on January 1, 1974.
