Reich Law Gazette for the empire Austria December 22, 1867, the most important laws of the December Constitution contains

The Reichsgesetzblatt (legal abbreviation: RGBl. ) Was the official publication organ of the imperial patents, laws, ordinances and international treaties of the Austrian monarchy from 1849 to 1918 . From 1870 onwards, it was only valid in the kingdoms and countries represented in the Imperial Council of what was now the Real Union of Austria-Hungary .

The Imperial Law Gazette was published from 1849 to 1852 as the General Imperial Law and Government Gazette for the Austrian Empire , which also included Hungary during this period. From 1853 to 1869 it was called the Reichs-Gesetz-Blatt for the Austrian Empire ; From 1867 to 1869, the area to which it applied was noted for each regulation. (Hungary was now politically independent and no longer affected by the RGBl.)

From 1870 to 1918 the official title was Reichsgesetzblatt for the kingdoms and countries represented in the Reichsrathe (from 1903: Reichsrathe) ; the empire, which existed de jure until 1918, was described in such a way that many Czech politicians only wanted to accept the emperor in his function as King of Bohemia and fundamentally refused the sovereignty of the Imperial Council in Vienna over the countries of the Bohemian crown .

The last edition appeared on November 12, 1918, the day on which German-Austria declared itself a republic . Thereafter, the laws in Austria were promulgated in the State Law Gazette (StGBl.) And from 10 November 1920 in the Federal Law Gazette for the Republic of Austria (BGBl.).

Speech output

The RGBl. appeared in German and especially since 1870 in other national languages of the Austrian monarchy. From 1853 to 1869 it was only published in German. At times, national language translations appeared in the state law gazettes of the crown lands. If the (bilingual) national language editions were initially also authentic - which sometimes led to interpretation problems - only the German-language texts were declared authentic by a regulation of the Ministry of Justice of March 19, 1853, also retroactively from the beginning of 1849.

In 1890 the publisher stated that the Reichsgesetzblatt appeared “ in the German , Italian , Bohemian , Polish , Ruthenian , Slovenian , Croatian and Romanian languages ”.

  • The Italian-language edition was titled Bolletino delle Leggi dell'Imperio .
  • The Polish- speaking one was called Dziennik ustaw państwa .
  • Zákonníg říšský was the name of the Czech language edition
  • Foaila legilor imperiale was called the publication in Romanian (Romansh)
  • Državni zakonik was the Slovenian-language title
  • With List državnih zakona the Reichsgesetzblatt was subtitled in Croatian.
  • Wistnik sakoniw dertschawnich is a transcription of the Ruthenian (= Ukrainian) title, which appeared in Cyrillic script.
  • The Hungarian Birodalmi törvény- és kormánylap only existed until 1852 .

The Austrian National Library has also been providing editions of the RGBl in other languages since 2009. (and the state law gazettes of individual Crown Lands of Old Austria) electronically available.
