history
As a result of negotiations by a Danish-Greenlandic commission on the autonomy of Greenland, a corresponding regulation was passed by the Folketing in 1978 . In the subsequent referendum in Greenland on January 17, 1979, the great majority of Greenlanders voted for an autonomy law. On May 1, 1979, Greenland finally achieved its self-government and internal autonomy with its own parliament and government. The office of Rigsombudsmanden i Grønland as the highest representative and head of the Danish imperial administration in Greenland was created in this context. The first ombudsman was Torben Hede Pedersen . He held office until 1992.
