Reid Bailey (born May 28, 1956 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Philadelphia Flyers , Toronto Maple Leafs and Hartford Whalers in the National Hockey League from 1973 to 1984 .
Career
Reid Bailey began his career as an ice hockey player in the junior league Ontario Hockey Association , in which he from 1973 to 1976 for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and Kitchener Rangers was active before he ended the 1975/76 season with the Cornwall Royals in the QMJHL . He then played for two years for the Port Huron Flags in the International Hockey League , with which he failed in the final of the Turner Cup in the 1977/78 season at the Toledo Goaldiggers . On November 20, 1978, the defender received a contract as a free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1981/82 season . In the four years in which he was active in the Philadelphia Flyers franchise , he played mainly for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Maine Mariners , with whom he won the Calder Cup in the 1978/79 season .
In the summer of 1982 Bailey signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Oilers , but was then used exclusively in their AHL farm team with the Moncton Alpines , for which he was on the ice 21 times before he was on January 15, 1983 in exchange for Serge Boisvert was given to the Toronto Maple Leafs . There the Canadian could not prevail, so that he only played three games for the Maple Leafs by the end of the season. Mainly he played for their AHL farm team St. Catharines Saints , where he also began the 1983/84 season before he moved to the Hartford Whalers on December 9, 1983 , where he ended his career at the age of 28 at the end of the season finished.
