Reigen (Tennō)
Reigen ( Japanese 霊 元 天皇 , Reigen-tennō ; * July 9, 1654 , † September 24, 1732 ) was the 112th Tennō of Japan .
He ruled from 1663 to 1687. He was a son of Go-Mizunoo -tennō and his wife Fujiwara Kuniko. Although he later passed the throne to the Higashiyama-tennō , he still retained imperial power at court from his monastery. But the real political power in Japan was the Tokugawa - shoguns in Edo . In 1713 Reigen became a Buddhist monk and was called 素浄 .
