Reigns: Her Majesty is a strategy game developed by Nerial and published by Devolver Digital . The game is a stand-alone sequel to the game Reigns . In a fictional medieval world, the player plays a monarch who rules the kingdom by accepting or rejecting suggestions from advisors. The game was released in December 2017 for Android , iOS , Linux , macOS and Windows . Reigns: Her Majesty and its predecessor were released for the Nintendo Switch in September 2018 under the joint title Reigns: Kings & Queens .

The third installment in the Reigns series, Reigns: Game of Thrones , was released in October 2018.

Game flow

The basic gameplay is the same as in Reigns , but instead of playing as a medieval king, the player takes on the role of a queen . The player swipes a card with the picture of an advisor to the left or right to accept or reject his proposal. Every decision has consequences and changes the balance between the four pillars of society: the church, the people, the military and the economy. The queen's reign ends when one of the four pillars is too high or too low. The game continues with the player controlling his heir. There are between 1200 and 1300 different cards in the game, compared to 800 in the original game.

During the course of the game, the player can experience different types of events caused by the story or decisions of the player. Such events can have one-time or recurring effects on the game, such as: B. the death of the next advisor if his proposal is rejected.

A new game feature in Reigns: Her Majesty is the picking up of objects. The player can collect items throughout the game and use them in certain situations. The items can bypass the options offered and offer new options.

reception

The game has been described as a "clever and surprising" sequel with "fun and minimalist" mechanics and an "improved and engaging story". However, the game should also repeat itself. It has been compared to services like Tinder , as the player makes decisions by swiping left or right.
