Reigns: Game of Thrones is one of Nerial in partnership with HBO developed and Devolver Digital out given strategy game . As the third part and offshoot of the Reigns series, which consists of Reigns (2016) and Reigns: Her Majesty (2017), the game is based on the characters of the Game of Thrones franchise. Reigns: Game of Thrones was released in October for Android , iOS , Linux , macOS, and Windows . A version for the Nintendo Switch came out in April 2019.

    Game flow

Reigns: Game of Thrones works similarly to its predecessors. The game is known as "Swipe 'em up" and allows the player to be one of the main characters from the Game of Thrones universe, including Cersei Lannister , Jon Snow , Daenerys Targaryen , Tyrion Lannister and Sansa Stark . In the game, the player is constantly asked questions about the rule over his kingdom, with two options: swipe left to accept or right to reject the proposal in question. Any decision can have an impact on four factors: military strength, religious favor, domestic popularity, and national wealth. Each card indicates which factors would be affected by one of the two decisions, but not how strong or whether the effect would be positive or negative. If one of the two factors increases to its maximum or decreases to its minimum, the player's character dies and is replaced by another character. The player starts the game as Daenerys Targaryen and gradually unlocks other characters throughout the game. With each character, the player faces different challenges based on the story arc of that character. The game also includes mini-games such as jousting tournaments and tavern fights.

    development

Prior to creating Reigns: Game of Thrones , François Alliot, founder of London- based video game developer Nerial, had been a Game of Thrones fan since reading the original books by George RR Martin and also enjoying the TV series of the same name. When he submitted the original Reigns to publisher Devolver Digital , Alliot described the game as " Tinder meets Game of Thrones"; Devolver Digital later passed the idea on to HBO , the company behind the TV series Game of Thrones, for a licensing deal .

The lyrics behind Reigns: Game of Thrones were mainly developed by Alliot and his wife Tamara. Leigh Alexander, formerly the lyricist of the predecessor Reigns: Her Majesty , provided the lyrics for the character Cersei Lannister. All lyrics were developed in collaboration with HBO to ensure that they stay true to the original material. Due to the game element of choice, the player is able to change the outcome of events that are canon in the TV series Game of Thrones. To deal with this problem, the game states that all events were visions of the character Melisandre , through which the game creates a "what-if" scenario.

    publication

The announcement started pre-orders for all three distribution services. The game was released on all target platforms on the scheduled date.
