The heron is a rare heraldic animal and a common figure in heraldry .

The bird belonging to the wading birds is not directly modeled on one of the natural ones. The bird differs from the stork and crane in the coat of arms by a tuft on the back of the head. The protruding feathers at this point and its more protruding than adjacent wings in the coat of arms are the distinguishing feature of the heraldist . Main line of sight is to the right (heraldic). It is seldom shown in the coat of arms , ready to fly or flying . The heron has a crown around the neck in the coat of arms . He can also be found standing on one leg. Body is mainly colored in silver, but legs and beak differently tinged be.

As is common with other heraldic animals, the heron can hold a fish , other common things or a snake in its beak.
