Johann Reiner Joseph Komp (born July 18, 1769 in Eitorf ; † August 26, 1824 at Ehreshoven Castle , Engelskirchen ) was a lay judge and from 1808 until the end of the French era, municipal director and mayor of the canton of Eitorf .

Life

He was the son of Johann Philipp Komp from Eitorf, his first marriage in 1768 to Maria Margaretha Günther from Obereip . This had been appointed by Carl Franz von Nesselrode-Ehreshoven since 1789 as waiter or rent master for the offices of Blankenberg , Windeck and Altenwied and was appointed by Napoleon Bonaparte to the department council of the department Sieg on November 3rd, 1809 .

Reiner Komp married Anna Wilhelmina Antonetta Catharina Quadt in 1790, the daughter of the Eitorfer mayor Nicolaus Quadt.

His office building was set on fire during the so-called Knüppelrussen uprising, which is why the population in Eitorf intervened and put an end to the uprising in the Rhein-Sieg district . As he presented his role very favorably, he was made the first honorary citizen of the canton by Napoleon Bonaparte and was awarded the Cross of the Legion of Honor .

In 1815 Reiner Komp resigned from his office in Eitorf after citizens had accused them of taking advantage. Successor in office was Johann Peter Schildgen, who married Wilhelmina in 1828, a granddaughter of the mayor Nicolaus Quadt. Schildgen was also mayor of Herchen at the same time .

Reiner Komp's son-in-law Jacob Müller, married to daughter Lina, was mayor of Eitorf from 1872 to 1892. Reiner Komp's brother Jodocus was Mayor in Much from 1811 to 1813 . His son Karl Theodor was mayor in Herchen from 1851 to 1864 and then in Much until 1888. There the Kompgasse still reminds of him. The skillful marriage made the family one of the most respected in the Rhein-Sieg district .
