Reinhard Brendel (born December 21, 1956 ) is a former German soccer player . In his career he played 36 Bundesliga games and 226 second division games.

Career

Brendel played for SpVgg Bayreuth in the 2nd Bundesliga South from season 75/76 to season 79/80 . Brendel was one of the permanent staff, he came to 152 missions and 19 goals in his 5 years. The 78/79 season was the most successful in Brendel's time at Bayreuth, at the end of the season the 2nd place was reached, which entitles the player to participate in the promotion games to the Bundesliga . Here Brendel and his teammates failed 1: 1 and 1: 2 at Bayer 05 Uerdingen . Brendel came on as a substitute for Klaus Brand in the 58th minute of the first leg . He played through in the second leg. Due to his good performances, especially his eleven goals this season, as a defender in the 79/80 season, the Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg became aware of Brendel and brought him to the 1980/81 season . He stayed until 1983, but could never prevail, he came to 20 appearances in the upper house of German football. His greatest success with Nuremberg was reaching the final of the DFB Cup 1981/82 . Here Nuremberg was stopped by FC Bayern Munich . After a 2-0 half-time lead, the Nuremberg lost 2: 4. When the score was 2: 3, Brendel came on for Thomas Brunner in the 75th minute.
